Fixed Bunk Posts
The Bunkster features two fixed posts set up in a "bunk-style" configuration, where the bars are parallel to the hull of your vessel, which accommodates many modern kayak hull shapes.
The posts can be easily repositioned along the axle to maximize compatibility with different kayak widths and hull body lines.
The axle features six bunk positions ranging from 6.25" to 16" wide.
Bunk Ties and Pads
Securing a kayak to the Bunkster with straps can be different for every kayak model, so like the TowNStow BarCart, the Bunkster has multiple integrated tie-down points.
The strap loops integrated into the wheel hubs work great for kayaks that are wider than the cart's wheelbase, and a centralized tie-down point located at the center of the axle is excellent when transporting narrow boats.
The tie-down points are designed for 1" flat cam straps (not included), but you can also use rope less than 5/16" in diameter.
For extra grip on the underside of your kayak, the Bunkster includes four "super-grip" rubber bunk pads.
For long-term durability, we chose to design press-fit rubber pads instead of regular foam.
Wheels
The included wheels are a 3-piece BeadLoc wheel design with a durable, high-traction rubber tread.
These tires are airless and designed for use on hard surfaces.
The wheels snap into place and are removed by pressing a button.
Storage and Components
Many anglers have set up their kayaks in the boat ramp parking lot, then transported them to the water's edge, but taking it back to their vehicle is not always an option.
This leaves your kayak and gear unattended and susceptible to theft.
The Bunkster was designed to disassemble completely without the need for tools. The wheels are removed by pressing the button behind the hub on the axle and can be done in seconds.
The fixed posts are removed by lifting the orange position lever and sliding them off the axle.
Everything except the centralized tie-down point can be removed from the aluminum axle, leaving you with five pieces that can be stored in most hatches.
The Bunkster comes with two kickstands, configured with one on each side to optimize and support the loading angle for both sides of the cart.
When not in use, the sturdy kickstands snap into place, locked out of the way.
